Other ideas for learning enrichment:
Literacy
*Have your child make and write a scavenger hunt for a family member
*Have your child help write out a grocery list, and practice reading aisle signs when finding items together in the store
*Read a book together and each draw your favorite parts of the story, then share them and compare
*Listen to a story that you physically have at home on Epic or StoryLineOnline with a sibling, friend, or family member while flipping through the pages as the story is read
*Play, play, and more play. Play builds social skills, language, reasoning, fine/gross motor, problem-solving, spatial awareness... the list goes on :)
Math
*Involve your child in cooking/baking: measuring, the timing of the oven, counting ingredients (ex. "We need 6+3 carrots. How many is that? Can you count them out for me?")
*Ask your child to make a word problem for you or an older sibling to solve
*Challenges: "Can you write an addition or subtraction sentence with the numbers 6 and 8 in it?" (Any number or multiple numbers)
*Incorporate math into dramatic play: Ex. ordering various amounts of food at a Play-Doh "bakery": "Can you make me 12 muffins and 6 cookies?"
*Count collections: shoes in the hallway, forks/spoons, socks, anything!
Science/Social Studies
*Keep a book/journal of special family recipes, holidays, and traditions
*Make a map of your neighborhood -- ask your child to include spots, stores, parks, etc that are important to them
*PBS Kids Easy Science Experiments
*Notice and wonder about the natural environment: the stars and moon, plants, nature, natural resources, etc.
*Plant a garden (inside or outside) and take care of it, watch plants grow, make predictions
