Class Information:

In ELA (English Language Arts), we will focus on building reading and writing skills while expanding vocabulary, comprehension, and communication. Students will explore different types of writing, engage in independent reading, and improve their ability to express ideas clearly.

• Mondays & Wednesdays: 15 minutes of independent reading (students should bring a book of their choice).

• Tuesdays & Thursdays: Time dedicated to Lexia as a self-paced intervention.

• Fridays: First Chapter Fridays—I’ll read aloud one chapter of a book to spark excitement about reading!

Grading Breakdown

Homework= 10%

Quizzes= 15%

Classwork= 35%

Tests= 40%

Classroom Expectations

• Respect: Treat others and their ideas with kindness.

• Focus: Stay on task and engaged in learning.

• Patience: Give everyone time to learn and grow.

• No Cellphones: Phones must stay off and away. If seen, they will be turned into the dean.

Materials Needed:

• Charged Chromebook Every Day

• Pencil

• Notebook (Preferably Spiral) 

Assignments

• Homework: 1–2 assignments per week.

• Weekly Grade: 30 minutes of Lexia (counts as one weekly grade).
