Students entered the classroom and boarded the plane!Â
After we landed in Florida, we boarded the jeep for walk throughs of each park.Â
These Disney goers are lining up and heading to the Disney cafeteria for lunch!
Starbucks Party!! Students worked hard at teacher vs. student points and were the first to 10. While voting in class they decided they wanted a starbucks party! Students enjoyed uncaffenaited "pink drinks" and starbucks cookies that were passed out by our starbucks barista while enjoying some jazz tunes in the background :)
Our barista is hard at work prepping for starbucks day!
Up next, students put on their chef hats and made a recipe from the Beauty and the Beast Castle at Disney! "The Grey Stuff"Â
Later on at snack, students enjoyed their hard earned creation "The Grey Stuff" as well as Mickey Mouse waffles!
Afterwards, we sketched and built Elsa's ice castle with our table teamates.
To end Disney Day, students got to use their Disney Dollars to shop at the Disney gift shop. Everyone also got the chance to go home with a headband for attending the day!
The dentist came to pay us a special visit! She read to us a book about dental safety, we played games together, and were able to take home a treat bag!
Martin Luther King Jr. lesson taught us that even though we may be different colors on the outside, we are all the same on the inside and should be treated as such. Students had fun comparing and drawing their eggs on the outside. They predicted what they thought the insides would look like and if they would be different. Students then cracked one egg each and were able to compare the insides.Â
Students were awarded for completing CAPIT lessons that help them strengthen reading skills! Students are encouraged to complete 2 lessons a day which help with letter recognition, sounds, spelling words, and decoding words.Â
Capit Heros who have unlocked a new level! Congrats!
Way to go!
Students raced up and down the cones to see who could protect their "baby egg" while also transporting them the fastest back to the nest!
While completing penguin relays students sat down after racing to signal they were done.Â
Students were required to race down and around the cone while protecting their "baby egg". Then head back to the next teammate and pass it on!
Students conducted a science experiment to see how penguins are waterproof. We colored half our penguins and discussed how the wax from the crayons is like the penguins feathers. after spraying water we watched what happened to the colored side and the side was left uncolored.
Students had a blast feeling like their grown-ups and being able to vote in an election. They created campaign posters for different types of chips and read the book "Grace for President". The next day students voted for their favorite chips-wavy or thin. Then we voted in our super secret voting booths and tallied the results. Students went over greater than or less than while comparing for a winner.
Students went wild over the results! :)
Students learned so much on this field trip, it was one of our best ones yet! We talked about bees and pollination and what foods we can thank bees for, we role played hens and roosters and were able to pet some, we picked an apple and a pumpkin to take home, and enjoyed a hayride!
Students were able to learn all about pumpkins while investigating them using our five senses. We helped the teacher cut them open, empty the guts, and we're able to feel around inside. We used our sense of touch, sight, and smell! Afterwards we painted and used the pumpkin pieces to make and label our own pumpkin diarama!
Students learned abut fire prevention and what to do to stay safe. We then read pete the cat and the firefighter and made a delicous snack to go with it!
Learning can be fun! Check out some photos of us either working hard at math or completing some phonics building activities!
