I have been teaching for thirty-four years. I grew up just two houses down the road from where I currently live and attended Jefferson School from Kindergarten through 8th grade.

The picture to the left was taken of me when I was a 3rd grade student at Jefferson School. The picture on the right was my 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Tilley.
I graduated from Murray State University in 1989, subbed in a variety of classrooms for one year, and then was hired as a Kindergarten teacher at Jefferson. I began my teaching career working alongside some of my own teachers. They were excellent mentors, and I am extremely blessed to have had such incredible coworkers when I first started my career!
After one year of half-day Kindergarten during the 1990-1991 school year, I moved to full-time 2nd grade teacher. I taught 2nd grade for 11 years from the 1991-1992 school year through the 2001-2002 school year. I then moved to 5th grade for 3 years from the 2002-2003 school year through the 2005-2006 school year. I moved to 3rd grade for the 2006-2007 school year, and that is where I still am today!
My husband Tim works at Honeywell for Turner Industries, and I have two wonderful daughters and an awesome son-in-law. Hattie is a student at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee; and Sophia and Josh live in Murphysboro, Illinois. We enjoy spending time with them whenever we can! We also have two cats named Biscuit and Grayby.
I enjoy learning new things, and I am always on a journey to find new ways to use technology in my classroom! I have earned my Apple Teacher certification and have been named as a Classkick Teacher Ambassador as well as a ClassDojo mentor.
