Meet the Teacher

Hello!  My name is Krista Kennedy.   

I graduated from Massac County High School in 2001.  I received my Associate of Arts Degree from Shawnee Community College in 2003, and my Bachelor of Music in Education from Murray State University in 2005.  I have been teaching music for the past 16 years, and in Massac County for the past nine years.  I'm glad to be home :) 

In 5th grade, it was time to start band, and I chose to play the flute (mostly because that's what my mom played!)  I was in band all the way through high school.  I attended Shawnee College on a music scholarship, which meant that I was part of the band and choir.  I was also able to participate in several musicals and madrigals while there.  When I went to Murray State, I was SO excited to be a part of the Racer Band, which is the college marching band.  I was also a member of the Wind Ensemble, Flute Studio, and the Symphonic Band.

My husband Austin and I live in Metropolis with our two sons, Oliver and Isaac.  We like to watch movies on the weekends, mostly super hero movies!  I love musicals and like to go see as many as possible.  My sister is the art teacher at MES, her name is also Mrs. Kennedy!
