Dear Parent/Guardian:

There are many ways music can help your child. In addition to learning music and how to play a musical instrument, the music program teaches teamwork, perseverance, self-discipline and self-esteem. Statistics show that young people who participate in music are among the strongest academically in their schools, and recent research indicates that studying music makes you smarter!

Students who plan to be involved in other school activities can still participate in and benefit from band activities.

In September (date to be announced) there will be a meeting of all interested parents/students interested in renting an instrument.  A representative, Reece King, from AMRO music store will be present and it will be possible to rent a musical instrument very reasonably on a trial rental plan. If you already have an instrument, you do not need to attend the meeting. I am sending this letter at the end of the school year so you can begin to plan/think about your child playing a musical instrument. I prefer to do business with AMRO Music Store. They are based in Memphis, TN but our representative lives in and works from Paducah.  There is also Allen’s Music in Paducah and TC3 in Metropolis. Instruments to choose from are: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, Snare Drum and Mallets.
