Squad History
Listed below is information about Mason Hope Squad, including its beginnings and how it has grown since its formation.
Hope Squad is an international mental health awareness and peer-to-peer suicide prevention program. Both Mason High School and Mason Middle School have a Hope Squad, and while they follow the layout and structure of other Hope Squads, Mason's Hope Squad is unique in serving and representing the student body. Members have been anonymously nominated by their peers, and their collective aim is to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and be an outlet for their peers.
Mason Hope Squad was formed in the 2018-19 school year, aiming to build a better community in Mason High School and the greater Mason community. Originally, there were only 56 members. Now there are 83 members and 4 advisors. We aim to reach 100 members in the 2025-26 school year to expand our outreach to the student body and help ensure each student has a peer in the squad with whom they can connect. A couple of years later, Mason's Middle School Hope Squad began. Members of both Hope Squads bond throughout the year and coordinate on district projects.Â
