August Band Camp…..

Specific times will be announced soon.  Most camp days involve two extended rehearsal blocks (ex: Afternoon and Evening).  Camp days should be kept open - please do not schedule appointments or work during these days.

Band camp times are tentative, please keep these weekdays open!! 

Fall Season Rehearsals…..

Mondays @ 6-9pm = Percussion & Guard Only

Tuesdays @ 6-9pm = Winds Only (woodwinds and brass)

Thursdays @ 6-9pm = EVERYONE (winds, percussion, guard)

Saturday (Non-Show Day) Rehearsals (3):

• August 23rd

• September 6th

• September 20th

These typically run as morning and afternoon rehearsal blocks with evening off.

Note: Some weeks are scheduled differently to avoid conflicts (ex: back to school night, etc.). These will be identified and announced by early August.

Performances & Events…..

Football: 9/5, 9/19, 9/26 (MMS Band Night), 10/3 (Homecoming), 10/24 (Senior Night)

Band Competitions:  9/13, 9/27, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1

Community:  Mechanicsburg Halloween Parade - Tues 10/14 (evening), Fall Band Concert 11/4 - 7pm @ MMS

*End of season banquet: Friday, November 7 6:00pm (MASH Cafeteria)

Attendance Policy…..

SUMMER Rehearsal Attendance Policy (prior to band camp)

Students are required to attend all summer rehearsals unless they are involved in an approved prior commitment.  Such commitments may include:  family vacations, summer camps, mission trips, and things of this nature.  Students may NOT miss summer rehearsals because of work conflicts.  Students are expected to notify employers to ensure that they are available for rehearsal.

To be excused from one or more pre-band camp rehearsals, a parent email is required. 

Please email the appropriate staff member (listed here) your anticipated SUMMER absences by Friday, June 6th.

SEASON ATTENDANCE POLICY (band camp and beyond)

There are no “bench-warmers” in marching band; everyone plays a key roll on our team.  Therefore, attendance is absolutely critical to our success.  We all need you here and on time.

 All rehearsals and performances are strictly mandatory.  Students may only be excused due to illness or family emergency.  Extenuating circumstances or commitments (weddings!) will be considered on a case-by-case basis and exceptions must be requested of Ms. Broadway prior to the start of the season.

• Special arrangements for missing or coming late to a season rehearsal must be requested & approved by your caption head (Ms. Broadway for winds) at least 2 weeks prior to the absence.

• Special arrangements to miss a season performance must be requested & approved by your caption head AND Mr. G prior to the start of the season

Failure to adhere to these expectations may result in your exclusion from a performance, removal from a portion of the show, or even dismissal from the team.

Important Note:  if you have a prior commitment that calls into question your ability to participate in marching band, please inform Mr. G to see if something can be resolved.  Please don’t make the assumption that you can’t do it!!
