The summer school courses offered at Mechanicsburg Area School District have been aligned to the level 2 courses offered at the high school and credit will be awarded for that level upon successful completion of the summer school course of study. All summer school courses are offered online via our MASD CAOLA Cyber Academy. Students have 24-hour access to their courses. The courses are self-paced and will be monitored by MASD staff and teachers.
Summer school courses contain the essential course content and can be completed in a condensed time frame over the five-week summer school program. In order to earn credit for the course:
Students will be assigned a consistent number of lessons per week that might vary by academic discipline. (A student’s daily time investment will be approximately 2 hours per day per course to complete). Assignments must be completely weekly by Sunday at 11:59 PM.
Students are required to check-in once per week with their teacher at times determined by each teacher.
Attendance is determined by weekly progress and weekly check-ins. If students have not completed at least 95% of weekly assignments for two consecutive weeks, he/she may receive no credit for the course and no refund will be issued.
Students must demonstrate mastery of the course objectives no later than the last summer school session. Payment and attendance do not guarantee credit. Mastery will be measured through on-line assessments.
Students who earn a passing grade will be credited with a 70% on their transcripts. Students who are unsuccessful in recovering credit will receive a 69% on their transcripts.
Students who do not complete the course will not earn credit.
