Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to MMS! I am excited to begin a new school year and to get to know you and your family!
Middle school comes with a lot of change; to be successful in this transition, we need to work as a team – parent, student, and teacher. Below is a description of expectations for our 6th grade English class.
Come to class prepared with the necessary tools. Pencils, binder, agenda book, laptop, and earbuds
are essential.
Have assignments handed in on time.
Fill your agenda book in on a daily basis.
Have a book to read with you in class each day.
Bring an A+ attitude to class each day.
Grades are based on total points. These will be accumulated through writing assignments, in class work, homework, and participation. Parents and students may check grades at any time by logging on to Sapphire through the district’s web site. Students are welcome to discuss a grade with me at any time.
Homework is very important. It is meant to reinforce what we learn in class. All homework is posted on the board for students to record in their agenda books. Students need to check the board in my room or on my class web site for assignments.
Most times homework will be the completion of an assignment that we start in class. All homework should be done neatly and handed in on time.
When a class assignment is late, a student will lose 1 point for each day that it is late. If a larger project is late, a student will also lose points for each day that it is late.
When you miss a class due to sectionals or absence, it is the student’s responsibility to see the teacher to find the assignment and all expectations.
