Mascalls Academy Sixth Form Centre is housed in the heart of our academy, encouraging our post 16 students to feel that they are an integral part of our school. Students that wish to continue with their creative subjects from GCSE make up the majority of our intake for A level, but the breadth of courses and facilities we offer means that we are a popular option for external & international students.
Our post 16 curriculum is designed to prepare students for real-life scenarios. Through our high standards & expectations, students leave us well prepared for whatever next steps they want to take whether that is employment in industry, a degree course or apprenticeship.
Although the sixth form centre is on-site, in the art department we have worked hard to create a culture whereby our students are socially aware, independent, proactive citizens.
A highlight among many for our A level students is our residential trip. Previous destinations include Berlin, Florence, Barcelona and New York. In our experience, this not only exposes the students to creativity and ideas that they may not have experienced before, it also encourages our allow young people to discover more about their subjects, the wider world and their own potential.
Our relationships with further education institutions, means that we are able to attend specialist work shops and seminar and invite external speakers in, allowing students the experience of studying a creative subject at degree level.
Course Portfolio requirements:
