Off Campus Communications

Updated 5/13/2020 @ 9:26am

When gathering together on campus for meetings, chats and regular interactions are not possible, GSuite is here to help! Google Hangouts offers a tool for video conferencing in Meet, a tool of quick communications in Chat, and even a way to make outgoing calls.

This page provides information on using Google Hangouts, Hangouts Meet and Hangouts Chat to help maintain the continuity of business when a closure of campus is necessary. If you have any questions, you can submit them to the Help Desk.

Additional information is also provided about two communication tools - IP Communicator and Remind - for calls and texting.

Having Meetings

You can host meetings using Google Hangouts Meet. Participants can call in or use their own mic. Share your screen, share your webcam, or don't. It's integrated with Google Calendar making it a good choice for in house meetings.

Need to have a call back number? IT now has the ability to put your office phone directly on your computer! You can make and receive calls on your usual office line right through your computer. If you are interested in having IP Communicator installed on your computer so you can use this feature, please submit a Help Desk Ticket.

Staying in Touch

Google Hangouts chat is a great way to stay in touch with your Marywood crews! You can set up chat rooms for your department or project team. You can group message a few peeps or send individual messages. Go to chat.google.com to start!

Interested in texting students?

In today's digital age, we realize that some students may prefer to communicate through texting. If you would like to try this out, we recommend using the Remind App. Students can communicate with you by texting or through a smart phone app. You can participate through the app or on the internet. Send messages to just one student, or send messages to the group.

Be sure to read the terms and conditions as you set up a Remind account as this would be an individual, free account in your name.
