Welcom to the MoN Health and Well-being Website

Welcome to Mrs. Carter's, Mary of Nazareth, Health and Well Being Website. The site provides health and well-being resources for students and families.  If you or a member of your family are experiencing a mental health emergency call 911 for immediate attention. If you are experiencing a non-emergency mental health crisis call the Montgomery County Crisis Center at 240-777-4000 or visit them in person at 1301 Piccard Drive, South Entrance, Rockville, MD 20850.

Mental Health and Well-Being support will be offered through class lessons, small groups, and one-on-one as needed. Support is provided through a lens of the Trauma-Informed Model of care, and the Strengths-Based Approach

MoN adopted the Trauma-Informed Model of Care in the spring of 2020  to support students and families during the uncertainties caused by  COVID-19. The Trauma-Informed Model utilizes six principles,   Safety, Trust, Choice, Empowerment, Collaboration, and Respect.

While we will continue to utilize the Trauma-Informed Model, we will shift our focus back to the Strengths-Based Approach to supporting the students' social-emotional well-being.  A Strengths-Based approach is a positive approach to well-being that focuses on identifying personal strengths, gifts, and talents, rather than deficits, to help build, confidence, hope, and resistance.

To learn more about the Trauma-Informed model of care and the Strengths-Based Approach, click on the Mental Health Matters tab. Information about Health and Well-Being class lessons can be found on Mrs. Carter's Counseling Website for Kids

If you are concerned about your child's mental health, well-being or adjustment to school, please contact Mrs. Carter.  Early intervention and self-care are vital steps to promoting positive mental health. kcarter@maryofnazareth.org
