This month’s senior spotlight features Maggie Mascitello! Throughout her time at Mary Help of Christians Academy, she has been very involved in lacrosse and the many school activities that this school offers for its students.
Maggie chose to come here because she knew a few students and she liked the environment. She feels that she has chosen well, as she has made many friends and memories throughout the time she spent here. Her favorite class was always history. She was interested in many activities, and she has been part of many clubs and activities, particularly band, prolife, theater, choir, NHS, peer ministry, campus ministry, 20th century culture club, linguistics club, and lacrosse.
The events the school holds always make very notable memories for everyone involved. Maggie’s favorite event is more of a memory than the event itself, as she said that her favorite event was:
“Are You Smarter Than a Teacher during catholics schools week, when I went up against Mr. Dunn for 70s music.”
Her favorite sport to do in Mary Help is lacrosse. She is very involved in the team, and she finds that even if the sport can be stressful at times, the enjoyment she gets from it makes playing worthwhile. She loves how great her team is, and she hopes to see more victories than losses during this upcoming season. When asked about lacrosse, she said:
“Mr. Bliss likes to say I would run through a brick wall for the team.”
Because of Maggie’s involvement in lacrosse and many clubs, she was accepted into many colleges. In particular, she got accepted into Hofstra, Marist, Seton Hall, Fordham, University of Mississippi, William Paterson, and Montclair State University.
Some advice she has for the freshman and sophomores is:
“Don’t procrastinate, but if you do, make it good.”
