Join the Riverside Middle School Band Program!

Are you ready to embark on a thrilling musical adventure? At RMS, we invite you to be a part of our vibrant band program where YOU can shine! Starting in sixth grade, you’ll have the chance to play one of four amazing instruments: the Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, or Trombone. Imagine in the fall performing at our dazzling Christmas Concert, bringing joy to local nursing homes by playing Christmas Carols, and experiencing spectacular trips to such as Greensboro Symphony with Cirque Du Soleil and the NC Symphony Holiday Pops, or the Carolina Ballet performing the Nutcracker? Plus, there are fun-filled events like Solo and Ensemble MPA and Fine Arts Night that will allow you to showcase your talent. As you progress into seventh and eighth grade, the excitement continues with opportunities to join our Jazz Band, Pep Band for football and basketball seasons, Christmas Parades and we also have Spring Trips such as going to see a broadway touring company Musical. Get ready to create unforgettable memories, make lifelong friends, and discover the fun of making music together! Join us and let the rhythm of Riverside Middle School Band inspire you! 🎶

Learning to play mouthpieces

You don't need to know anything about music to sign up for band. I will teach you to read and how to play your instrument, from putting it together, playing the mouthpiece and the entire instrument!!

Performances

Sixth graders collected donations, made handmade Christmas Cards, and traveled to a local nursing home to make their Christmas just a little brighter. We played some Christmas Carols, handed out the homemade cards and the Christmas gifts that were donated. All students had a wonderful time, and learned about helping others.

Christmas Concert

Spreading more Christmas Joy to our community with our Annual Christmas Concert. Students played Christmas music only 3 months after they began playing their instruments. What a great way to begin our Christmas Season.

Get Ready to Join the Band Adventure!

Joining the Riverside Middle School Band is super easy and incredibly exciting! Just fill out the 2026-2027 Sixth Grade Band form to ensure you’re included in this amazing musical journey. We want to ensure you’re placed in the right elective, so don’t miss out! Even if you are already in band at your elementary school you still need to sign up so I can make sure you are placed in the correct band class next year!!!

Once you’ve signed up, it’s time to get your hands on an instrument! You’ll be starting with one of these awesome choices: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, or Trombone. The best way to get an instrument is to rent one, and I highly recommend it for many reasons! If you're thinking about buying an instrument, please check in with me first. Remember, cheaper instruments often mean cheaper materials, leading to more frequent repairs. Plus, many repair shops won’t work on lower-quality brands. I’m here to help you find the best value and quality for your child’s musical journey, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

I work with a fantastic music company that specializes in rentals and top-notch service. A representative will be visiting us on May 7th, 2026 in the RMS Band Room at 3:30pm or 6:00pm, to share all the details and help you get your instrument! You can also check out their website at **www.fullersmusic.com**—just remember to select Riverside Middle School when renting.

Prefer to visit a music store? Head over to McFayden's Music in Greenville, NC! You'll find it conveniently located at the corner of Arlington Blvd. and Evans St., behind the gas station and next to a large thrift store.
