Q: Is there an audition?
A: As of November 2020, all incoming students will be accepted into the Theatre Academy. There will not be an audition.
Q: What are the special privileges that come with being a member of the MRHS Theatre Academy?
A: Students within the academy are guaranteed 3 out of four years of the theatre performing arts course. Students are also automatically enrolled into the current year of our Adopt-A-School program with Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ. This special program (only offered to Theatre Academy students) allows students to view professional theatre in a gorgeous, newly renovated theatre, interact and network with working professionals, participate in a number of workshops (musical theatre, tap, stage combat, special FX makeup, etc.), and write and perform their own original piece on the Paper Mill stage. You will also receive honors credit for all academy courses on your transcript.
Q: Can I be involved in the MRHS Theatre Academy and still be a member of other academies?
A: Absolutely! Our team of counselors will work with you one-on-one to build your perfect schedule. In the past, students have been apart of both STEM and the Theatre academy simultaneously. Students can also participate in multiple performing arts academies simultaneously (Vocal & Theatre / Dance & Theatre / Dance & Instrumental).
Q: Who can I contact if I have any additional questions?
A: You can contact Mrs. Giamella at Lgiamella@marsd.org if you have any additional questions. I hope to hear from you soon☺
