Securing funding can be a challenge, but we've learned a lot along the way! Here are some of Curiosity’s top tips to help you navigate fundraising throughout the season:
Curiosity selling cookies at our bake sale!
Behind the scenes of the baking process (featuring more than 60 sticks of butter!)
Organize Fundraising Events
Host events like bake sales, car washes, or concession stands at your school or local events!
Pro Curiosity tip: know your audience! As a team, we have hosted numerous bake sales to fundraise for our outreach efforts. We noticed that people in our school community really enjoy cookies and cookie dough, so we tailored our sales to focus on these favorites. By paying attention to what our community loves, we were able to make our fundraisers more successful and enjoyable!
Leverage corporate sponsorships
Approach local businesses especially those in engineering, manufacturing, or technology sectors.
Support doesn’t always need to come in the form of money! Even if a company is unable to provide direct monetary support, your team can still benefit greatly from other donations such as spare materials, tools, meeting space, or mentorship.
Apply for multiple grants
Don’t limit applications to one source–apply to various grants to increase funding opportunities!
Ensure that all application deadlines are met and provide all required documentation.
Engage with your community
Participate in local events to showcase your team’s work
By building relationships with community leaders and partners in your community, you increase your team’s visibility and credibility. This can lead to new opportunities for sponsorships, collaborations, and support. Plus, involving the community creates a sense of shared pride and investment in your team’s success, which often translates into ongoing support and encouragement.
