If you aspire to be a JV or Varsity Captain...
ALWAYS be setting a good example.
Work hard at every turn.
Push yourself to exceed expectations and go the extra mile every chance you get.
Be at EVERYTHING. Workouts, open gyms, team bonding activities, camps, etc. NO EXCUSES!
Don't complain or be negative. Be uplifting and create a culture of WANTING to work hard and grow.
Serve your teammates. Instead of expecting them to treat you better because you're "above" them, you make sure to treat them better. Help them out any chance you get.
Encourage and build the confidence of teammates every chance you get.
Be willing to do whatever you need to for the benefit of the team.
Always find ways to improve the chemistry of your team and get everyone involved.
Be in constant communication with your coach. Discuss ways you can improve your game and ways the team can improve.
If other things such as money, sleep, social life, etc. are more important to you than the success of the program, you will not be a good fit for the Captain's position, and possibly not a good fit for Varsity.
