Chromebooks
Marion County Knight Academy has 1:1 Chromebooks for all staff and students. Students must complete an online Digital Driver’s License (DDL) and sign an Acceptable Use Policy, before they will be issued a Chromebook (CB). Chromebooks and chargers are checked out in each student or staff member’s name through the library media center. 8th Graders receive a brand new Chromebook issued to them, that they will keep until their senior year.
Students that forget, don’t charge, or have repairs being made to their CB may check out a Chromebook from the library media center on a daily basis. Students that forget or have not charged their CB will receive a lunch detention after the 4th offense and from then on (this does not include Chromebooks being repaired). After the 6th offense, parents are called and notified that the student will only be allowed 2 more check outs before they become a day user and will not take their assigned Chromebook home. (Chromebook will remain in the library overnight for charging each day.)
Students are allowed to charge their CB in the library at any time with no consequence. Chargers are not loaned to students. In the event when a Chromebook is damaged in any way, the student/parent is liable for the cost of those damages. Students are given 30 days to pay for repairs or put on a payment plan (if student does not pay in 30 days or set up payment plan, he/she will not be a day user). Student will be added to debt list for nonpayment. A letter will be sent home to guardian listing the damages/charges.
