The Mustang Academy is a program created using 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grant. Programming will include activities at the Marion Public Library, 4H, Lego Robotics, Makerspace, Arts and Crafts, Archery, OSMOS, Math and ELA help, physical activity and games. The program is offered from 7:00 AM until 7:45 AM and 3:00 PM until 4:50 PM Monday - Friday.
There is no cost for students to participate. For those students who utilize bus transportation, a bus will be available to take students home. In city drop-offs will also be provided.
Goals:
Goal #1:
Upon completion of the first year, at least 30% (63/210) of students attending Marion Elementary School will participate in the Mustang Academy for at least 20 days.
Goal #2:
By June, 60% of the students participating in the Mustang Academy identified as part of our target population (truant, basic or below basic on Forward ELA and Math, economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, students with SEL needs) will attend at least 30 days of programming during the school year.
Goal #3:
By June, 75% of the target population will have improved scores on the building assessment (FastBridge) or state assessment (Forward).
Goal #4:
By June, 2025, 90% of Mustang Academy participants, who attended at least 30 days of programming, will report on the school climate survey that they feel there have been increased opportunities that interest them after the school day.
Goal #5:
By June, 2025, the mean score on the PBIS school climate survey for the statements “I like school” and “students treat each other well” will increase for those students who attend at least 20 Mustang Academy offerings.
Goal #6:
By June 2025, the Mustang Academy will send at least one weekly update via ParentSquare, district newsletter, local newspaper, or social media.
Goal #7:
By June 30, 2025, the Mustang Academy will have at least 25% of families participate in 21st CCLC parent/community engagement activities as evidenced by an attendance sign-in.
Goal #8:
During each school year, at least 50% of all programming includes at least one community partner as evidenced by programming records.
