NARCAN DISTRIBUTION AND EDUCATION
RxSafe Marin will lead the call to action for Narcan Distribution and Education. RxSafe’s naloxone outreach team is helping Marin County Office of Education and The Spahr Center to distribute Narcan to all Marin County High Schools and Middle Schools and to schedule training for staff and students at each school by the end of the school year. With the support of RxSafe Marin, MCOE received a grant from California Department of Health Care Services for 288 units of Naloxone (Narcan) to support this effort. Narcan Distribution Program - September 2022 Update
After a successful first year, All Public High Schools, Middle Schools and K-8 Schools have Narcan on campus and have trained staff who are able to identify signs of overdose and administer Narcan.
The Program for the 2022-2023 School Year will continue with distribution to Public Elementary Schools as well as Private, Independent, and Parochial Schools. Training for additional staff and students will be a priority.
