The Marin Gun Safety Collaborative launched on February 22, 2021 in direct response to the Marin Grand Jury Report released in October 2020. The MGSC was developed by Lori Frugoli, District Attorney. The MGSC is comprised of multi-sector public and private individuals and agencies representing social services, mental health, veteran’s groups, hospital systems, faith leaders, advocates, and more. The goal of the Collaborative is to reduce unintentional and intentional gun-related violence and suicide in Marin. The Collaborative engages with key partners to address this complex public health issue, including the Marin County Suicide Prevention Collaborative. The MGSC recently held its first community wide event, “Gun Safety in Marin: Let’s Start the Conversation,” held in June 2021.
