Orchestra members are expected to embody the Blue Devil Standard here at Marietta Middle School! Please review the handbook for more information about the program and how your student can excel in the orchestra.

ALL orchestra students will need to have a signed contract this year in order to use the instruments and equipment in the orchestra. If your student plans to use a school instrument and borrow the instrument for home practice, this contract must be signed before the instrument can be taken home.

In order to meet the GA Standards for Excellence in Orchestra, participation in school concerts is required. Concerts are a culminating activity of what we do in the classroom, and are a final assessment. Each musician plays an important role and is part of the team! Students and their families are responsible for noting these dates in their personal calendars, and should make every effort to attend the required concerts. Please let your teacher know if you need help with transportation!
Absences must be reported to the teacher by filling out this form as soon as possible. Excused absences include emergency illnesses or transportation issues that occur the day of the performance. A performance based make-up assignment will be provided for students who miss a performance, although it is difficult to recreate the experience that the student will miss.
If the student has a conflict that was planned before the required rehearsal or concert is announced, the parent/guardian must communicate this conflict in writing to the director. Established religious holidays are excused but should be communicated by the parent using this
