Possible theorie:

According to other Irish mythological tales about the Banshee, she is the spirit of a little girl who died horribly and that she is still there to alert family members to the imminence of a horrific death. This Banshee is supposed to resemble an elderly woman with long fingernails and terrible teeth.

The banshee's hair might be long, flowing, copper, gold, silver, or raven-black. According to several traditions, she can only keen while brushing her hair. The banshee may have red eyes from crying. The banshee may have a pale skin. Clothes: The banshee may be dressed in a green dress with a gray cloak or be white with red hair. The banshee is typically characterized as being short, standing between one and four feet tall, though her exact height varies by locale. Age: The banshee could be a young lady, an elderly crone, or a matron of state. Additional characteristics The banshee can be compared to a bird, cat, or other animal. 

Sighting:

 The Banshee mythology states that if she is noticed, she will disappear into a cloud of mist, making a sound akin to a bird flapping its wings. According to legend, banshees are merely a warning of death, not the cause of it.
