Coroner Takes Over Library
Story by Libby Loo
Retired Coroner, Ron Crawford, gave a special presentation at the Avondale Public Library this past Friday. During his 45-minute presentation Mr. Crawford horrified and fascinated members of the library’s True Crime Club with various stories of love gone wrong. His ghastly tales of lovers who kill together and lovers who killed each other had some leaving early. The Avondale Public Library’s True Crime Club meets on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at 5:30pm and is always looking for new members.
Superb Owl Sunday
Avondale Public Library wants you to forget the Super Bowl, this past weekend was all about the Superb Owl. The library invited Liberty Wildlife and three of their cutest feathered friends to come and teach the public all about owls. We learned that the Elf Owl is the smallest owl in Arizona. Liberty Wildlife’s Mission Statement is “To nurture the nature of Arizona through wildlife rehabilitation, natural history education and conservation services to the community” and this past weekend they taught over 200 people about nurturing nature in this small library.
