Area 51 became forever associated with aliens in late 1980’s due to Robert Lazars claim. He claimed, “Area 51 housed and studied alien spacecraft and that his job was to recreate the technology for military use" (Combs). Though his claim was deemed false, the employees at Area 51 were working on advanced aircrafts at the time. Which, in turn, left citizens with questions about all of the “unidentifiable flying objects skyrocketing in the area” (Combs).
In June of 2019, Matty Roberts posted a text on Facebook saying, “Storm Area 51, they can't stop all of us.” This post reached millions of people and influenced 3000 people to show up at the gates of Area 51 in September of the same year. The raid was given the name Ailenstock. Though the military and citizens of surrounding towns were worried, the event was lighthearted and went smoothly. (Greenspan).
