Principal's Message

We had some more exciting trips this week with Elm class visiting the British Museum to further extend their learning on Ancient Civilisations and Willow class visiting the Heritage Centre to continue to work on their map skills. The children had a fantastic time.

On Wednesday, Oak and Juniper class completed their action task for their inquiry. They organised and ran an Ice Cream Parlour in order to raise money to protect animals who live in the Arctic. It was wonderful to see the children's work and to see how passionate they were about helping others. Thank you to all of the parents/carers who attended this event and made it memorable for the children.

Next week, we are looking forward to our EYFS/KS1 Easter Bonnet Parade. We hope lots of you will be able to join us for this event. If you are attending and traveling to the school by car, please can we remind you to ensure you park in a safe and sensible place. The Parish Council always kindly allow you to park in their car park but would like to remind you that you should only be parking in official marked bays to ensure that everyone is able to enter and leave the car park safely. We would appreciate your support in ensuring this happens.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Travelling Book Fair 25th-28th March

We are running a pop-up Book Fair from 25-28th March 2024 to help raise money for books in school. Scholastic is one of the largest providers of free books to schools via our Reward scheme which helps to ensure that as many children as possible have access to books that support reading for pleasure. Every time you buy from the Book Fair, you help to make a difference by supporting literacy at Marden Primary. #ShareYourFair

Football kits

We are so excited to let you know that we have just received a brand new Girls Football Kit! Therefore, just a reminder that full kits (which include a top, shorts and a pair of football socks) must be returned to Miss Brown due to several matches going on.

National Online Safety

Cultural and technological changes have made the experiences of today’s children vastly different to our own childhoods; it can be challenging to engage youngsters in open, honest conversation – especially about more sensitive topics. This, combined with many children’s instinct to avoid “rocking the boat”, can make it difficult to stay up to date with the goings on in their lives.

However, it’s hugely important that trusted adults still offer an empathetic ear and feel able to encourage young people to open up about their day-to-day activities. This #WakeUpWednesday guide provides ten top tips for promoting open conversations with children – helping to make sure there’s someone they know they can turn to in times of need
