Principal's Message

On Thursday it was World Book Day. The children loved dressing up and seeing all the staff joining in...trying to work out which book character they were. This wonderful day helps children both understand the importance of reading, and the pleasure it can give. We were lucky to have our local Librarians come in to school to lead an assembly on reading which the children thoroughly enjoyed. We hope they were able to tell you about it when they arrived home. Thank you for your support with this, it's always such good fun.

Today was our Mother's Day event. It was lovely to see so many of you come in to celebrate this with your children. We hope you enjoyed spending this time with them to create a special craft.

This week, we had another PTA meeting. We would like to thank the PTA for their support in funding oppotunities for the children. So far this year, they have already given money towards trips for the children, planned and run the Christmas Fair and have given money for additional resources. The support they give makes a big difference to the children.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Sports Stars

Well done to Ella who has been awarded her Learn to Swim Level 3 badge. She has worked hard to develop her water safety knowledge and learned to go under the water to pick up objects.

Ethan attended the Edenbridge Rugby Festival on Sunday and played for the Under 11s for Tonbridge Juddians. He had a long day with matches against many other teams and was awarded Player of the Tournament for the under 11's.

National Online Safety

Since they were first played in arcades on oversized machines, fighting games have found their way not only into our homes via consoles and PCs, but also – in the case of franchises like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat – into the pop culture elite, with merchandise and movie adaptations. The most recent entrant to the arena is Tekken 8, which recently launched to critical acclaim.

With a cast of colourful combatants, Tekken offers an adrenalin hit of fast-paced fisticuffs and slick presentation. As with any fighting game, however, Tekken’s competitive nature and focus on violence may not be ideal for the younger element of its user-base. Our #WakeUpWednesday guide has some top tips for allowing fans of virtual martial arts to enjoy the action more safely.
