How much does outdoor school cost?

On Nov. 8, 2016, Oregon voters passed Ballot Measure 99, authorizing funds from the state lottery to provide all fifth- or sixth-grade students in Oregon access to a week of outdoor school. Measure 99 provides the funding for the outdoor school law, which was passed by the Oregon Legislature in 2015.

What should I pack?

Here is our Packing List. You can use older clothing and equipment that you already have at home; you don't need to purchase new items. Ensure your child has enough clothing to layer and change if they become wet. Opt for fleece or another warm, quick-dry fabric over cotton, as it dries much faster when wet.

Please organize your gear in a suitcase or duffel bag. Labeling all items with your first and last name using a permanent marker is recommended. Leave all valuable items at home.

Can my student attend for the day only?

Our program is structured to provide a fully immersive experience, accommodating students overnight for four days and three nights. However, we recognize that certain circumstances may make full participation challenging for some students and families, such as medical, physical, or religious reasons.

Students who would benefit from attending during the day only should communicate their needs with the outdoor school coordinator. Pick-up and drop-off arrangements will need to be scheduled with the designated supervisor. We aim to ensure that all students can participate in a manner that suits their individual requirements.

How are dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, sugar-free, dye-free, celiac/gluten intolerance, and peanut allergies accommodated in the provided meals?

The meal service teams at camp does an excellent job of accommodating special dietary needs. Forms will be sent out where you can identify any restrictions.

What accommodations can be made for students with special needs?

Be sure to share any concerns about your child's participation at outdoor school with our outdoor school coordinator. You will also be provided forms that help us understand your child's dietary, medical and/or special needs. Legal guardians of students with special needs can request permission from the school to attend outdoor school specifically to provide one-on-one support for their child during the overnights and during the daytime as well.

What if my student needs to take medication(s) while at outdoor school?
