Introduction to Agricultural Leadership and FFA

Course Length: 1 semester (1st Semester only)

In Intro to Ag Leadership & FFA, topics covered are leadership, communication, fundamentals of FFA and parliamentary procedure. It is highly recommended that if a student wishes to participate in FFA during high school that they take this course.
Introduction to Agricultural Science

In Intro to Ag Science students are introduced to career pathways and topics such as animal science, agronomy/plant science, agriscience, and natural resources.
Crop Production
Grade: 10 - 12
Course Length: 1 semester

In Crop Production, students learn about soils, plant anatomy and physiology, integrated pest management (insects, diseases, weeds) and crop identification.
Principles of Agronomy

Principles of Agronomy focuses on crops, soil and environmental sciences, climate, tillage and seeding, seed and grain quality, weed and pest management, and sustainable agriculture.
Animal Science I
Grade: 10- 12

Animal Science 1 focuses on the history and use of animals, housing and facility requirements and anatomy and physiology of livestock. Students will earn the IRC: Youth for the Quality Care of Animals(YQCA).
Animal Science II

Animal Science II focuses on animal nutrition, genetics and reproduction practices within the animal industry. Students will earn the IRC: Youth for the Quality Care of Animals(YQCA).
Animal Science III

Prerequisite: Animal Science I and Animal Science II
Animal Science III introduces students to domestication, principles of food and animal production, marketing and animal industry issues. Students will earn the IRC: Youth for the Quality Care of Animals(YQCA) & Beef Quality Assurance (BQA).
Agriculture Business

In Ag Business, students will engage in management concepts such as budgets, balance sheets, checking accounts, income statements, and cash flow statements as students apply them to their fictitious business.
Horticulture I
Grade: 10- 12
Course Length: 1 semester
In Horticulture I, concepts covered are careers in horticulture, landscape design, plant propagation, floral design, and hydroponic management. Students will gain real-life application throughout the course
Horticulture II: Greenhouse Management
Grade: 10- 12
Course Length: 1 semester
In Horticulture II, students will care and manage the plants for that semester's plant sale while learning basics of horticulture, seed starting, basket design, marketing, budgeting and sales. Students in this class will be required to work a set amount of plant sale shifts.
Natural Resources
Grade: 9- 12

Natural Resources focuses on conservation practices, stewardship, land use, water quality and North American wildlife. Students are able to apply this knowledge to their real lives.
Ag Biotechnology
Grade: 11- 12
Course Length: 1 semester
Ag Biotechnology explores the impact biotechnology has on agriculture. Learning includes DNA & genetic engineering and exploring careers in biotechnology.
Ag Metal Fabrication I
Grade: 9- 12
Course Length: 1 semester

In Ag Metal Fabrication, students will learn characteristics of metal, welding (MIG and Arc), types of welds, oxyacetylene cutting, and plasma cutting. Students will have hands-on experience in welding.
Advanced Ag Leadership

Enrollment in this course must be approved by the FFA Advisor. This course focuses on improving leadership and communication skills through book studies, CDEs, and event management
Agriscience Applications
Grade: 9- 12
Course Length: 1 semester
In Agriscience Applications, students will develop, facilitate and present an agriscience research project that aligns with the National FFA Agriscience Research program.
Veterinary Science
Grade: 10- 12
Course Length: 1 semester
The focus of Veterinary Science is on prevention, diagnosis and treatment techniques of animal diseases, viruses and injury as well as veterinary tool identification. Students will earn the IRC: Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA)
