Description: Off-Season training is important for all athletes, of all ages. Summer in particular is a time when we can take advantage of all athletes being in the same off-season. On top of the obvious physical and athletic benefits of training, there is also the added benefit of building team chemistry, peer to peer relationships, and culture within our athletics program as a whole. Training together breeds accountability, discipline, and trust.
Every day there is an emphasis on building a good base, athleticism, strength, and mobility. Each workout usually consists of 5-6 sections/parts. Each “block” I program runs for about 2-3 weeks. I do this so we can learn movement patterns and become more confident. I do not “believe” in a true “Max Week”. We focus too much on numbers and outcomes and view those as success and failure during a true “Max Week”. Rather, we should be focusing on the process and gains made over time and not putting so much pressure on one week.
We don’t do any “sport specific” training. There will be extra speed and agility sessions offered during the summer. Dakota will post about these in the Google Classroom for Strength and Conditioning to keep you updated. Are you dealing with an injury, problem, or feel like something isn’t right? Dakota is also the school Athletic Trainer and will be able to modify your workout or help you in any way you need.
