Outstanding Teacher Recognition

The Boettcher Foundation has a tradition of recognizing outstanding teachers as well as students. Each 2023 Boettcher Scholar was asked to identify one teacher who impacted their lives and made significant contributions to their growth and education. The Teacher Recognition Awards Program was established by the Trustees of the Boettcher Foundation in 1992 to provide an opportunity for Boettcher Scholars to extend their gratitude to the teachers who have dedicated themselves to providing Colorado students with an outstanding education.
Our 2023 Boettcher Scholar Dalton Carroll chose Joshua Trujillo as their teacher honoree in recognition of Joshua Trujillo’s passion for the profession and dedication to their students. In addition to a certificate, the recipients of the Teacher Recognition Award will receive a $500 grant, which they may use toward an educational program, professional development, or project to benefit students at our school. This award is the Boettcher Foundation’s way of telling Mr. Trujillo that his commitment to our students and to the community is very much appreciated.
We are incredibly proud to have Mr. Trujillo as a teacher in our school community and thank him for inspiring not only our students but also setting a standard of excellence for others in the teaching profession.

Congratulations to Dalton Carroll for being selected as a recipient of the Boettcher Foundation Scholarship! The Boettcher scholarship process is rigorous and competitive and selects top students based on their academic achievement, outstanding character and leadership and service in their schools and communities.

Manzanola School District 3J shall strive to provide a safe environment, meaningful opportunities and innovative educational programs for all students so that they reach their learning potential, including that they meet or exceed state and district content standards, through partnerships between home, school, and the community.
About Us
Manzanola is a small rural town located in the southeastern part of Colorado in the Arkansas Valley in Otero County. This area is known for producing much of the fruit and vegetables of the state of Colorado. The elevation of Manzanola is 4255 and the population is between 450 and 500.
The current enrollment of Manzanola School District 3J is approximately 170 students. Bobcat Pride runs deep throughout this small community.
Manzanola School District offers concurrent credit classes through Otero College in La Junta as well as CSU Pueblo.
High School athletic teams offered include 6-man football, girls volleyball, basketball, wrestling and baseball. Arrangements can be made with area schools for interested students to participate in cross-country, golf, softball and track. Junior High athletic teams include football, girls volleyball, baseball, basketball, track and wrestling.
Clubs and other activities include FFA, Student Council, National Honor Society, Claws for a Cause, Knowledge Bowl, Robotics, Art and Drama.
Manzanola School District was awarded a BEST Grant to build a new addition and renovate the existing Temple Buell Jr/Sr High School building. Both were completed in Summer 2022. All students now attend classes in one building.
