Social Emotional Learning is how we help students build the essential life skills they need to thrive. Through SEL, your child learns how to understand and manage their emotions, set positive goals, show empathy for others, build healthy relationships, and make responsible decisions. Strong social emotional skills helps students navigate the ups and downs of growing up, both inside and outside the classroom.
I visit each classroom on a monthly basis to provide Social Emotional Learning lessons. Lessons focus on the following competencies:
Self-awareness: Recognizing your own emotions, thoughts, values, and how they influence your behavior.
Self-management: Regulating stress, controlling impulses, and setting or working toward personal goals.
Social awareness: Showing empathy and understanding for people from diverse backgrounds or perspectives.
Relationship skills: Communicating clearly, listening well, cooperating, and resolving conflicts peacefully.
Responsible decision-making: Making ethical, safe, and constructive choices about your behavior and social interactions.
