We want to share a quick reminder regarding water bottles at school. In the past, we’ve had students and staff slip due to water spills in hallways and common areas. These spills often happen when students are carrying water bottles throughout the building or filling them at the water stations.
To help keep everyone safe and to make sure students can easily access water throughout the day, we ask that you keep the following guidelines in mind:
Spill-proof bottles are a must.
Large Stanley-style bottles are not permitted. They are heavy, difficult for small hands to carry, and tend to spill the most.
Metal bottles are discouraged. They are heavier, noisier when dropped, and can be harder for younger children to manage.
Ideal bottles fit inside your child’s lunchbox. This helps ensure students bring them to the cafeteria for lunch.
Students have recess first at JHES and typically do not bring their bottles outside for recess (exceptions may be made on very hot days). Please also know that if a student forgets their water bottle during their lunchtime, they are always welcome to use our filtered water fountains.
We understand how important it is for students to stay hydrated and appreciate your help in supporting these safe and practical guidelines.
