State Nodal Agency Centre, Delhi (SNAC-Delhi)

Delhi officially known as the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, is a city and a union territory of India containing New Delhi, the capital of India. It is bordered by the state of Haryana on three sides and by Uttar Pradesh to the east. The NCT covers an area of 1,484 square kilometres (573 sq mi). According to the 2011 census, Delhi's city proper population was over 11 million, the second-highest in India after Mumbai, while the whole NCT's population was about 16.8 million.

There are 11 Districts and 33 Sub-divisions of Delhi (with effect from September 2012). All eleven districts of Delhi fall under the Delhi division.

There are five Municipalities (1 municipal council, 1 cantonment board, and 3 municipal corporations) in Delhi. These are as follows:

Population

According to the India Census 2011, the total population of NCT of Delhi is 1,67,87,941 and the population of persons with disabilities in the territory is 2,34,882 i.e. 1.4% of the total population. According to the National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO), 5% of our population of 102 crores is with disabilities.

Delhi State Nodal Agency Centre (SNAC) is the institutional arrangements of the National Trust at Manovikas Charitable Society (MCS) to support and take forward its activities.

Manovikas Charitable Society (MCS) is one of the reputed and well established NGOs registered with the National Trust since 2000.

The Objectives of SNAC-Delhi:

Coordination with the NCT of Govt. of Delhi and National Trust activities.
SNAC-Delhi is the Data/Information & Resource Center on Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.
Conducting professional training programmes on disability issues.
Inspection of NGOs, as per the instructions of the National Trust

Coordination with the NCT of Govt. of Delhi and National Trust activities.

A.1. to create awareness in the State with government functionaries about National Trust and its activities.

A.2. To work in close coordination with the Chief Secretary of the NCT of Govt. of Delhi.

A.3. To conduct quarterly meetings with secretaries of Social welfare, Rural Development, Education, Labour, Urban development, health & Family Welfare and Women & Child Development department etc. and submit the details of the meetings in the quarterly report.

A.4. To Coordinate and liaison with the different state authorities and officials for ensuring convergence with NCT of Govt. of Delhi and Central schemes and programmes for PwDs.

A.5. To work as Vibrant “Knowledge Centres” for disability-related information, best practices, research and development and other issues of state.

A.6. To create awareness among the registered Organisations from time to time about the NCT of Govt. Delhi initiatives / Schemes for the welfare of Divyangjan.

A.7. To work for sensitization & awareness generation in the community and empowerment of Divyangjan.

SNAC-Delhi is the Data/Information & Resource Center on Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.

B.1. to maintain a regular database relating to the beneficiaries of these four disabilities in the NCT of Govt of Delhi

B.2. Facilitation of Local Level Committees (LLCs) on legal guardianship.

B.3. To create awareness in LLCs.

B.4. To visit all Registered Organisations in Delhi and mentoring the small NGOs.

B.5. To sensitize professional groups and government officials, LLC members.
