Friday 12th December 2025
The focus of this week is answering the question 'What happened when Jesus was born?' in RE. We have also been discussing what makes a good friend. The children are very excited about Christmas and have been engaging in various Christmas crafts and activities.
Remember that the school closes at 2.30 on Friday 12th December for the Winter Fair. The EYFS Nativity is at 2.00 on Monday 15th December.
Friday 5th December 2025
Christmas is fast approaching and the children are looking forward to performing in the EYFS Nativity which is on Monday 15th December at 2pm. They have been learning about why Christmas is celebrated and how to get ready for Christmas. With the children's help we have decorated the home corner, written in Christmas cards and make some winter crafts.
The focus of the week was retelling 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' using small world props. In curriculum we have been learning about day and night and in Maths we are learning about stories and songs that repeat.

The Premier League trophy came home to Stratford Manor! We were lucky enough to get a photo with the prestigious cup. In the curriculum unit the children have learned about different types of families and that they are all special, we have investigated light sources and day and night and in Maths the children used classroom objects to build a rocket. In free flow, the children demonstrated collaboration and problem skills making a marble maze. We are so proud of Nursery!
Friday 21st November 2025
This week we have been reading "We're Going on Bear Hunt". We discussed the book title and cover and the children answered questions about action words. The children joined in by saying repeated phrases. They used their creative skills to make bear puppets using collage materials. They also learned about the different types of bears and how they are distinct.
In Maths, the children worked on talking about the shape of natural objects and used them to build houses and drums. At the end of the week, the children went outside on a bear hunt and completed an obstacle course. The children were very brave, challenged themselves to climb and balance on an obstacle course.
The children have been practising songs for the EYFS Christmas Show, which is on Monday 15th December.
Friday 14th November 2025
It has been a very busy week! At the start of the week it was 'Odd Sock Day' and we discussed how it is OK to be different and how to be a good friend. On Tuesday the children used oil pastels and scissors to create a poppy to wear. They took time to say thank you to people who keep us safe. At the end of the week they wore cozy PJs for 'Children in Need'.
In curriculum group times, the children are investigating to answer the question 'Is It Shiny'. They used torches to see which classroom objects sparkle and bounce light. In Maths the children were using objects to build for a purpose.
Friday 7th November 2025
The children have been learning about fireworks night. They know it is a celebration that happens at night. They represented fireworks by printing with paint and sprinking glitter. They learned the names of colours and described fireworks as ‘shiny’, ‘sparkly’ and ‘bright’.
In Maths, the children have been learning about space and shape and exploring moving jigsaw peices into the correct position so they fit. In Jigsaw, we discussed what it means to feel proud and the children spoke about what they are good at.
Friday 17th October 2025
This week the children have been learning how to name their body parts by playing games, looking at artefacts and by singing rhymes. In the role play area, the children loved pretending to be doctors performing operations on the teachers.
They showed they have a good sense of self when they talked about their faces and they used a range of materials to create a collage of their face.

The text of the week is ‘The Colour Monster’. The children learned how to name different feelings and talk about how they feel.

The children shared photographs of their families and spoke to the class about members of their family. We discussed how all families are special but they are all different.

We are reading ‘Owl Babies’ all about a family of owls. The children have learned the names of the characters, what happened in the story and how they are feeling.
Using cotton wool and paint, they printed an owl and glued on googly eyes and feathers
Friday 19th September 2025
This week, we developed our sense of self by completing puzzles of our faces and using a mirror to look at ourselves. We named the parts of our faces.
In Maths, the children are comparing objects. They are using language such as more than, fewer than and same to compare the amount of toys.
Friday 12th September 2025
The children celebrated their first week in Nursery. They are learning each others names and how to play together as a class family. Lots of new friendships were forms and it was fun to explore the class environment.
