You will have 2 minutes to look through the paper at the beginning.
Each question will be read to you.Â
There are always 8 questions, 2 on each AOS. The following questions will always follow the same format:
Question 3 - 9 Mark Extended (SPaG)
Question 5 - Melodic Dictation
Question 6 - Comparison (with a 6 mark SPaG question)
Question 7 - Score Question
You will have 45 seconds between the play of an extract before it is played again. After the final play you will have 1 minute before moving on to the next question.
At the end of the exam you will be given an additional 3 minutes to go back through your paper.
Planning is essential for longer mark questions so that you can return to these if necessary.
The maximum mark for the exam is 80.
Top Tip: Read the question carefully and highlight the key words. They will often ask you to discuss a certain feature such as melodic devices or rhythmic features and you will only get marks if you talk about the correct thing
