Both the student and a parent will need to create seperate log in IDs
You will need:
a personal email address (your high school email will be deactived next year)
your social security number
optional - cell phone number to use as password retrival if needed
4 challenge questions
Plan to finish creating your ID within 15 minutes or the site will time out
After you create your ID you will need to verify your email with a security code
and your cell phone number (if you choose to use it) through a text message
You will need to remember this log in for:
this year's FAFSA application and any future years
loan counseling for federal loans
signing your Master Promisary Note
For the student:
Social Security number
Driver’s license
2019 W-2
2019 tax return
2019 untaxed income records (if applicable)
Current bank statement(s) and any investments (if applicable)
List of the schools the student is interested in attending
For the parents:
2019 W-2
2019 tax return
2019 untaxed income records (if applicable)
Current business and investment records
Current bank statement(s)
Even if you think your income might bar your student from receiving aid, don’t skip out on the FAFSA. Many scholarships and grants require you to fill it out, even those not based on income. Plus, the FAFSA gives your student a chance to access federal student loans. No matter what your situation, the FAFSA is a must, so fill it out as soon as you can.

Once your FAFSA is accepted you will recieve notfication that your SAR (Student Aid Report) is ready. You can log back into your FAFSA account and view/print your report.
You will see if you qualify for the Federal Pell Grant or Federal Student Loans
You may need to save and share the first page of your SAR (which includes your expected family contribution number) for scholarship applications.
Create your MISSG account (Michigan Student Scholarships and Grants)
you will only be able to create an account if your FAFSA is completed, or you are T.I.P. eligible
