We are trying to find how the spine is effected by the walker. To do this, a finite element method (FEM) is conducted. This is done by creating a model of a human and a controlled Zimmer frame using Solidworks.
As shown from the picture to the left, the legs of both the walker and human are fixed in this static situation. A gravitational force is also applied to the center of the system and forces applied by both hands onto the walker.
Below shows the spinal area isolated from the rest of the female human system at 3 different angles. This shows as the angle of the spine bent increases, the increase you see in the stress being applied to the spine. The graph shows more of the distributed stress along the spine as we slowly move away.
