Spelling

At Mangōnui School we use a spelling programme called "The Code". 

This programme teaches students different spelling rules, letter sounds and letter combinations and how we put these sounds together when we spell. 

We also learn "Heart words" which are words that have irregular sounds in them so are harder to sound out.

As of 2025 Kowhai class will be following the BSLA phonics programme.

The sounds and words to spell will be added to this site by the end of February 2025.

But feel free to keep learning any words from these lists until that happens.
