Mrs. Osborn
Mrs. Osborn is a journalist teacher and ELA teacher and she teaches speech and drama. She is a hard-working teacher, and she is best friends with Teacher Apley. Mrs. Osborn is an amazing teacher all around. She's always so sweet and caring. If you're hungry she always has a snack or if you have a little cut she always has bandages or if you need your pencil sharpened you can always ask her!
Why did you become a teacher?
I come from a “Teacher Family” my father taught math and computer sciences, my grandparents and aunts and uncles were educators. I love learning alongside students and discovering ideas together. I am genuinely super excited to wake up in the morning and come to school! I hope to be a lifelong learner – I believe education is the most powerful tool of enriching our lives and changing our world for the better.
What do you plan on doing in the future? Do you plan on staying in Mancelona?
I’d like to stay and retire in Northern, MI. Hopefully, here at Mancelona High School!
What do you like about Mancelona schools?
I love the strong community! People come together and truly take care of each other when it comes down to it. This is a beautiful space of community. We have truly outstanding educators, brilliant students, and supportive families. I feel lucky to be here!
What is your favorite class to teach out of the 3 classes you teach?
That is a tough question!
I really enjoy witnessing students create something brand new with the Journalism/Media Design course and working with Karen Malloy!
It’s incredible to see the growth and learning of our 10th graders – I love the content and am so proud of the improvement in thinking and writing within the 2026 cohort.
And speech/theatre is just so much fun every day. I am so, so proud of the first dinner theatre production our theatre troupe performed!
What is your ideal classroom?
An ideal classroom is one where students feel comfortable to ask important questions, feel confident to fail forward, critically think, and genuinely enjoy the learning process. We are a work in progress but I think we can get there!
What are your career goals?
My career goals are to be a positive influence in the learning and lives of the Mancelona community. If I can create positive English class experiences for students who haven't had very many – I consider my career a success. I just finished my master's degree in English literature; I am very proud of this accomplishment.
Are you involved in any school activities? (if so what)
I am! I am lucky to help with after-school theatre activities, I like to take tickets at the ball games, I love going to see the performances and games of our students. I am also part of the MHS Teacher Book Club.
