At-Home Instructional Program

At-Home Instructional Program

Learning is supported and guided by Manara teachers while students remain home. Parents choosing this learning model will need to attend a Zoom Parent Orientation Meeting prior to the start of the school year.

  1. You must be enrolled with Manara Academy to participate in the At-Home Learning program. This program consists of online computer learning and learning paper packets printed from home or provided to you by the school (available for pickup only).

  2. Students must login daily, actively participate, complete daily assignments and submt them - Monday through Friday. Attendance is REQUIRED each school day, not just "present", but actively "engaged". Attending scheduled virtual meetings/live sessions with teachers is also REQUIRED in order to be counted as engaged. Therefore, students must be present and engaged during normal school hours.

  3. Staying in communication with the school and teachers, submitting work on time and staying actively engaged is the key to success during the At-Home Learning process. If students are participating in At-Home Learning using paper packets, daily work is required to keep pace with their same grade level peers.

  4. Students are graded in the same manner according to school policy as students attending school in person. See local grading policy for more details. Manara's late work policy applies. During the 2020-2021 school year "hold harmless grading" does NOT apply. Meaning, students are held accountable for school participation, assignment submission, daily attendance, and daily participation.

  5. Parents choosing the At-Home Learning are asked to remain in this learning environment for an entire marking period (9 weeks) before deciding to return to school to participate in the Hybrid or In-Person learning environment. Families can continue to choose to remain in the At-Home Learning environment for the entire 2020-2021 school year.

  6. Attendance is taken daily. Students will need to be engaged in learning between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. each day school is in session.

  7. If students or families are working on paper packets from home the families will be required to call in, email or report their attendance in some manner on a daily basis to the campus registrar or classroom teacher. Evidence of homework completion and timely submission is necessary to meet attendance requirements.

  8. Students in Grades 3-12 will be required to meet the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) objectives for each subject and pass the STAAR requirements at Grade Level.

  9. Students in High School will be required to meet the minimum passing requirements to obtain credit. GPA is cumulative and reported.

  10. Please contact your child's school if you need assistance with technology.

  11. Breakfast and Lunch will be available weekly for enrolled students in At-Home or Hybrid Learning. Please contact your child's school for the weekly distribution schedule or see the School Nutrition page built into this website.

  12. Truancy Laws, required daily attendance, as well as reporting absences all apply throughout the school year in the At-Home, Hybrid, and In-Person Learning environments.

  13. Students attending the At-Home Learning Model are required to follow all school policy. School Code of Conduct applies in an online environment as well.

Please read through all instructional models before choosing the best option for your child's learning and personal health and safety.

  • The instructional model you choose will be your child's learning plan for the first 9 weeks of school; our first grading period. You may continue with your choice of the same learning plan beyond the first nine weeks of school, and even throughout the entire school year.

  • Parents choosing the At-Home instruction will have the option to move from the At-Home to the In-Person or Hybrid instruction if they choose to do so, AFTER the first 9 week grading period.

  • Each 9 week grading period will provide opportunity to make a change to your child's learning plan if a parent makes the decision to do so based upon their comfort level of a return to school, health & safety or educational interests of their child.

  • If a parent requests to have their child moved to At-Home Learning out of consideration for health and safety, they will remain in the At-Home Learning until the end of a grading period before being allowed to return to In-Person or Hybrid Learning.

If choosing this option for instruction you may access the Educational Choice Survey Below:

  • Please complete and SUBMIT Survey by July 17, 2020.

  • Families may choose different options for each of their individual children.
