Statement of Purpose
Vaʻatele Education Consulting is a professional development organisation providing innovative and creative professional learning solutions for school leaders and teachers. We focus on supporting education providers to enact transformational system change that enables all of their linguistically diverse learners to be successful as who they are.
In 2022, Vaʻatele Education Consulting was contracted by the Ministry of Education to design and deliver the Pacific Bilingual and Immersion Education Project (PBIEP) (2022 – 2025). This project would later be renamed as ‘Ngā Reo o te Moana’ or, ‘Reo Moana’. This project aims to support senior leaders in schools to build their understanding about bilingual and immersion education and to increase skills and competencies of teachers in Pacific bilingual and immersion contexts.
Providing professional learning and development for Teacher Aides/Learning Assistants in English-Medium and Pacific Medium classrooms, this project focuses on effective practice with emergent bilingual tamariki.
Pacific STEAM
Pacific peoples were always scientists, technologists, engineers, artists, and mathematicians. They were innovative, creative, and resourceful.
Videos illustrate specific examples of STEAM within traditional Pacific Island culture and practices. Use the resource to encourage students to study STEAM subjects and carry their ancestors' legacy into the future. TKI Te Kete Ipurangi

Tautai o Le Moana is a professional learning and development pathway created by Pasifika principals, for principals of Pasifika learners, and focused on changing educational outcomes for Pasifika/Pacific students.
Parents and families
Parents and families have such an important role in their children’s education. Talanoa Ako is a Pacific parent education programme that aims to help parents, families and communities with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to champion their children’s education.
The Talanoa Ako parent focussed programme is for parents and adult family members only. The parent and their children focussed programme supports the entire family.
Centre for Pacific Languages
We are an NZQA-registered Private Training Establishment (PTE), approved to offer Pacific language courses as Training Schemes. Our funding from the Government means that we can deliver these courses to our communities for free!
Pasifika Focused Drone Programme
For primary schools, our programme engages with students and their whanau, hands-on flying of drones, learning safety routines and expanding career opportunities. For high-school schools, we're now able to offer NCEA unit standards (with our NZQA-accredited PTE) in addition to our whanau engagement, drone experience at no cost!
