Malone University’s Communication Visual and Performing Arts Department presents the OPEN FRAME FILM FESTIVAL

The Open Frame Film Festival will be held at the Canton Palace Theatre in downtown Canton Ohio.

The Open Frame Film Festival started at 7 pm on Thursday evening, April 28, 2022. The Open Frame Film Fest is an annual tradition that celebrates short films created by Malone University students. It was incredible to see the @CantonPalaceTheatre stage with so many talented filmmakers - directors, actors, editors, producers, production assistants, audio engineers, musicians, writers.

We watched a sports promotional film, four portrait documentaries, three narrative short films, two experimental films and one music video. The breadth of human experience was flickering on the big screen. The compassion, hope, critique, enthusiasm, hilarity, nostalgia and energy of these filmmakers continued even after the films were complete. Thanks to all for your work!

This year marks the 20th Open Frame Film Festival which has screened hundreds of student films over the last two decades. While many of our students go on to write, direct, produce and edit films and videos professionally, Malone University teaches filmmaking as a way of understanding personal calling and as an opportunity to refine gifts which can be used in many professions.
