Reasons for application
I am very interested in this job after watching the Lunchtime Talk. The company seems energetic and driven towards their clear goal of providing an incredibly polished product and the best service in the industry. This resonated with me as my personal way of working is to produce the highest quality product that I am capable of.
The company culture is inclusive and friendly. This is also very attractive to me as I am a sociable person and value collaboration with others very highly. The working framework inside your product seems progressive and conducive for positive ideas. Pair programming is also a big positive as it was one of my favourite aspects of the Makers course, it brought out the best in me as a developer and I felt as though I could often bring out the best in my partner too.
The companies' career progression and learning framework also seems excellent, the freedom to work towards my own personal tech goals once a week is an amazing opportunity and something that I would value immensely and not take for granted. The clear and concise path for easing in new recruits also seems fantastic. As a junior developer it could be easy to become overwhelmed, however with this path it is clear that Company x makes it easy to slot into this role. Learning about the tech stack and the different components while doing easier tasks at the start is a fantastic way of introducing new members of the team.
I am also very intrigued by the product itself. Company x seems like it is in a perfect position for a junior developer after a while of training to have a real impact on the product and see their work in action, coupled with the company policy of pushing work once it is 'done', and the powerful customer feedback loop that brings with it would be really exciting for me to see my work in the real world and watch the product grow. The tech stack that the product is built on is also appealing to me, we used React in our final project and I really enjoyed using the framework, Rails is also another tech stack that I have experience with and would be very excited about continuing to develop my skills on.
All in all Company x seems like a well managed, inclusive and driven company that I would feel privileged to work at if I was given the opportunity.
Why you?
I believe Company x should hire me because I align with their company very well. I value customer satisfaction and producing a polished product incredibly highly, this was installed in me from my previous role at Place Settings. I strongly believe in the importance of working in teams that value communication and engagement, I also know that this brings out the best in me and believe that this would happen if I was working at your company. I would not undervalue the opportunity for pair programming and personal learning provided by Company x , I know that I would seize both of these initiative and use them to the best of my ability to grow and learn as a developer, in turn making myself more valuable to the company.
I believe I have the personal skills that are important for a developer to have. I am a great problem solver, I enjoy seeing challenges through and am not easily deterred by pitfalls. I work very hard and am passionate about what I do, I value quality and find producing things that I am genuinely proud of incredibly rewarding. I am also a quick learner, I have found that a lot of the concepts in software development have seemed intuitive to me and match my personal way of thinking. On top of this my excitement around discovering new tech stacks and languages has helped to accelerate my learning as when I am passionate about something learning more about it comes easily.
I already have experience in both React and Ruby on Rails. Our final project at Makers was built purely in React. I played a pivotal role in creating the unique JSX code that was vital for our project to work. I really enjoyed using React and would be thrilled at the opportunity to continue to learn such an interesting framework. I also found Rails to be an impressively powerful tool for building websites and would love to learn more about it from experienced developers. Since Makers I have been creating a website for the storage and creation of recipe ideas using Rails and have really enjoyed the project so far, it would be fantastic if I was able to continue to add to this on my free days while at Company x .
I am very excited about starting a career in tech, the role that is being offered is a fantastically unique experience to learn and grow within an industry leading company. Combined with my strong desire to start a career within tech and my excitement over the opportunity that is being offered I am very confident that I would be able to excel in this role.
Reasons for Application :
Enhancing education through software would be incredibly motivating for me, and being part of an organisation with a progressive attitude toward business and development is an excellent opportunity. I love the vibrant atmosphere created by lively and driven students and those who support them to achieve this.
I’m highly interested in encouraging a DevOps culture; I understand how important this is for the engineering life-cycle. Having automation and streamlined processes is something I am actively interested in supporting.
X is a language I am eager to learn. Picking up new tech stacks is an opportunity I thoroughly relish, and I have been taught by Makers Academy how to tackle such a challenge. I am also always interested in front-end development; delving into frameworks such as React is incredibly fun as a creative person.
I appreciate and value the training and support that X is giving and would love to use this to become a valuable part of your team.
Why you?
The X company is known for divergent thinking and creative solutions, which I can deliver consistently within this role. As a X, I created various works with multiple designs to help realise client requests. This translates directly to software development since the technical process involves innovative ideas and practical solutions for effective results.
My art background also built my meticulous attention to detail. This and the Makers Academy have laid the foundations for my constant drive to understand best practices and apply clean, scalable, high-calibre code. As a leading organisation in academic expertise, your company strives for the same quality and efficiency.
The presentation during the Makers Academy Faire conveyed the importance of customer-centric design and delivery. All of my previous roles have involved an array of client interactions, from the delicate task of navigating customer complaints as a X, to building hundreds of strong relationships as a X. This continued with my work in X Development since I was the go-between for multiple departments and our developers. I am well-practised in understanding client needs.
Some of the most relevant experiences I can bring would be my previous work within IT, having changed departments due to my interest in an upcoming system that would replace ageing software. I was excited to support our team throughout the transformation and apply my knowledge to help grow and shape the new processes. This resonates with your company’s interest in championing change as a team and focusing on using data-driven resolutions.
Overall I would be delighted to bring creative ideas, professional problem-solving, quality assurance, experienced client collaboration, and supportive team practices to your company.
