COVID-19 Symptoms

People who are infected with COVID-19 have developed a wide range of symptoms from mild to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus and include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. Call your health care provider for medical advice if you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop symptoms.

When to get tested

  1. If you have symptoms of COVID-19.

  2. If you have had close contact (within 6 feet of an infected person for a total of 15 minutes or more) with someone with confirmed COVID-19.

  3. People who have been asked or referred to get testing by their health care provider, or by IDPH or your local health department.

*If you do get tested, you should self-quarantine/isolate at home pending test results and follow the advice of your health care provider or a public health professional.

When To Stay Home

If you develop any sort of COVID19 symptoms you should seek out testing regardless of your vaccination status and refrain from school and athletics. Your local healthcare provider should be contacted if your condition worsens or you have questions.
