Schedule, Record, & Publish Zoom Class Meetings in Brightspace

Schedule, start, and publish single or recurring Zoom Meetings and Recordings with Brightspace's buit-in Zoom Tool to streamline setup and access for you and your students.

  • Brightspace's Zoom integration provides your students with a one-stop spot for finding meeting links and viewing recorded classes.

  • You and your students can access Zoom directly from the Brightspace Navbar by clicking Tools, then Zoom.

Why Use Zoom in Brightspace?

Brightspace's Zoom integration is the easiest, most efficient option for scheduling, recording, and publishing your Zoom classes.

You can also schedule a non-recurring meeting in Brightspace, such as a one-on-one with a student: Follow Steps 1-8 in the "Schedule & Record" instructions below, but skip Step 4 and its sub-bullets. If you don't want to record, skip Step 6.

Schedule & Record Recurring Weekly Zooms in Brightspace

  1. Click Tools in the Brightspace NavBar, and choose Zoom (see above).

  2. Click Schedule a New Meeting (see above).

  3. Set the date, time, and duration of your first class meeting of the semester.

  4. Select Recurring Meeting if desired, or skip to Step 5.

    1. Set the Recurrence to Weekly.

    2. Repeat every 1 week.

    3. For Occurs on, select the days of the week your classes are scheduled (ex: Mon & Wed).

    4. Set the End date to the last class meeting.

  5. Verify a Passcode is set for the class meetings.

  6. Choose Record automatically and In the cloud for classes you want to record (skip this step for most one-on-one meetings).

  7. Click Save to schedule the meeting.

  8. Copy the invitation and send students the Zoom meeting link in an announcement or email.

    1. Optional: Post the link in the course description section of the dedicated Syllabus page and/or in a Module.

Schedule recurring meetings with Zoom in Brightspace: Set date ,time, and duration, and select Recurring Meeting. Set Recurrence to Weekly, Repeat every 1 week. Select the class days for Occurs on and choose an End date. Select Passcode.

Record meetings with Zoom in Brightspace: Choose both Record the meeting automatically and In the cloud, then click Save. Leave the other settings as they are.

Add Recordings to Brightspace

As long as the Zoom meeting was set to perform a Cloud Recording and you were logged into the Zoom app with your maine.edu account, the recording should automatically appear in Kaltura, the university's video management system. You can see your videos stored in Kaltura by clicking Brightspace's Tools Menu on the navbar and selecting My Media. Please see our Kaltura guide for more details.


Once the recording is in your My Media listing, you can add it to any course via the Content Tool using the Existing Activities button. See the Existing Activities section of our Brightspace Guide for more details.
