Hi!
I'm Zach Ludington (he/él), Associate Professor of Spanish at the University of Maine.
I'm a scholar of modern and contemporary Iberian poetry, a translator, and a poet. I also currently serve as the Director of UMaine's McGillicuddy Humanities Center.
Before coming to Maine, I taught at Emory University, in Atlanta, the Université Côte d'Azur, in Nice, France, and the University of Virginia, where I earned my PhD in 2014. I also earned an MA at UVA, and, before that, my BA in Romance Languages and Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While a student at Chapel Hill, I had the chance to study abroad at the Universidad de Sevilla, in Spain.
My research focuses on avant-garde poetry on the Iberian Peninsula at the beginning of the twentieth century, but I've also done some work on contemporary Iberian poetry and pop music and I've made some small incursions into Latin American literature. I've also translated a good amount of contemporary Spanish poetry into English. Some of my original poetry has made in out into the world as well.
