The support from the faculty and my cohort was crucial in my success.

My time at USM has spanned more than 20 years. In that time I've earned a BA, MA, and Ph.D. It would be impossible to identify a single moment in time as having been the most impactful. In these years I have encountered students, staff, and faculty who have shaped my experiences while I was both a student and an employee.

USM has been a place of work, study, and influential relationships for me for more than 30 years! I will always cherish the personal and attentive guidance I've received from my dissertation committee members, Andrea Stairs Davenport and Cathie Fallona, and the camaraderie and support of my cohort colleagues.

Plans for after graduation:I've accepted a tenure track faculty position with the University of Maine at Farmington.
Favorite course or professor:I hold vivid memories of some extraordinary creativity, humor and smarts among my colleagues in several of our projects, including TEDtalks, interpretation of policy and history of American educational systems, and research poster sessions. In retrospect, I appreciate how these tasks prepared us for the end game, successful completion and defense of our own studies.

The cohort model was of such value to me as an educator and person. My advisor, Dr. Fallona was incredibly supportive throughout my experience and inspired a confidence that I never thought I possessed. Many connections were made that will be longstanding and mutually beneficial. As an educator, policy was never an area I thought I would pursue but working through my Ph.D. has changed my outlook!
