USM was a great choice for me. It got me out of my home state, and to meet new people. It was a great ride!

I am thankful for the friends I made in the Native American Student Alliance as well as the Geo-Anthro Student Association. I was also honored to serve on the IDAC council with some great allies and fellow students. And lastly, the 2020 graduating cohort from the GYA department are some of the finest students I have ever met and I am lucky to call many of them my friends.

Favorite course:I really loved all the geography classes I took with Professor Savage. She also is my advisor. I wouldn’t have been able to finish without all her help and support.

Plans for after graduation:I will be attending graduate school in the fall, but have yet to make my final selection as I have offers from five schools. I am considering programs at NUI Galway, University of York, University of Cambridge, University of Sheffield, and University of Bradford.
Favorite course:All of the faculty in the GYA department are exceptional and I am honored to have studied with. I am grateful to Dr.Savage, Dr.Bampton, Dr.Hamilton, Dr.Dobres, Dr.Edney, Dr.Everson, Dr.Quinn, and Dr.Pavri for all their help and support. My favorite non-departmental course was with Dr.Caroll who teaches in the English department.

Through USM I had the opportunity to study abroad to Iceland & participate in an archaeology field school run by Dr. Hamilton. Both of these experiences were crucial in applying the skills I’ve learned throughout the past four years, while also being hands on ways for me to explore future pathways.

I received a UROP fellowship for the 2019-2020 academic year to analyze sea-level rise and coastal erosion in the Gulf of Maine, working very closely with Professors Nate Hamilton and Rob Sanford. Nate has been the best mentor I could have asked for and has become a great friend of mine, as well. I look forward to continuing work with Nate in the future.

Plans for after graduation:I currently intend to take time off, and return to a graduate program within the next two years to further my studies on Anthropology.
Favorite course:My first semester at USM, I was lucky enough to be able to take ANT320: Anthropology & the Museum, with Dr. Dobres, I think this was my overall favorite course at USM. The topic and theories were challenging and complex, the discourse was unlike anything else I’d study in Anthropology. Over the past two years, I also had to chance to take multiple course with Sarah Lockridge, who is an amazing professor and really focuses on what is anthropology and how does it apply to everything.
